Reasons for believing the Seals and Trumpets are Simultaneous

The church is raptured at the last trumpet (1Cor 15:51-52)

The last trumpet is when the Mystery of God is accomplished (Rev 10:7)

The Last Trumpet is when the Kingdom of this World becomes the Kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah (Rev 11:15)

The Last Trumpet is when it is time to judge the dead and reward the prophets and those who revere God’s name (Rev 11:18)

The Last Trumpet is when God pours his wrath out on the Nations (Rev 11:18)

The last seal is also associated with these events

God’s wrath follows the sixth seal (Rev 6:17)

God’s wrath is not poured out until after the Church has been raptured (1Thes 5:9)

The Great Multitude appear in heaven when the rapture occurs (Rev 7:9-17) just before the seventh seal is mentioned

The little scroll is presented open just before the seventh trumpet (Rev 10:1-11)

The Little scroll is the same scroll that the Lamb has been opening, one seal at a time

This scroll is almost certainly a chapter of the Book of Life which contains the names of born again believers

(There is another chapter of the book of life which is opened at the end of the Millennium when it is time to judge non-believers)

It is fitting that the rapture of the Church should occur when the seventh seal on the scroll is opened

After all, creation has been waiting in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed (Rom 8:18-24)

The rapture is mentioned in several places in Revelation; Revelation is not entirely sequential

The rapture of the church, followed by God’s judgement of the nations, is also mentioned in Revelations 14:14-16:21 and Revelation 19:1-21

The rapture of the Church is followed by God’s wrath on the Nations, both of which seem to occur at the seventh seal and the seventh trumpet

Thus there is good reason for believing that the seventh Seal and the Seventh trumpet are concurrent events in heaven.

In fact the rapture appears to occur in the twinkling of an eye at the beginning of the seventh trumpet (Rev 10:7). The rapture, if it does not precede the seventh seal being opened, would also appear to occur the instant that the seventh seal is opened (Rev 8:1) and then there is silence in heaven for half an hour.

The implication is that the other trumpets (trumpets 1 to 6) precede the seventh seal (as the seventh trumpet is concurrent with the seventh seal)

Could then the other trumpets correspond to the other seals?

Coud seal 1 be coincident with trumpet 1, seal 2 coincident with trumpet 2, seal 3 – trumpet 3 and so forth?

If this were true then when Christ opens a seal, an angel sounds a trumpet.

For those who are watching, this would serve as a warning that Christ’s return is becoming more imminent.

What would it look like if the seals and the trumpets were aligned?

Are there any events that cannot go together or would clash?

The seven Bowls are part of the Last Trumpet

A central theme in the book of Revelation is the scroll with seven seals which only the Lamb is worthy to open.

Rev 5:1-10

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals.  And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?”  But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it.  I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.  Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.  He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.  And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.  And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.  You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

The scroll is the Book of Life (or at least the part of the book of life that is for believers).  It has been sealed with seven seals.  It contains the names of every person that has been purchased with the Lamb’s blood.  It contains the names of people from every tribe and language and people and nation.

They will be a kingdom and priests to serve God and they will reign on the Earth (in Eternity).

Once the Scroll has been opened, the Children of God will be revealed.  For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. (Romans 8:19)

The next few chapters of Revelation describe what happens as the Lamb opens the seven seals culminating in the sealing of the 144000 from Israel and the appearance of a great multitude in heaven when the seventh seal is opened.

Seven angels with trumpets are mentioned following the seven seals but the seventh trumpet signals the end of the age and the rapture of the Church and thus coincides with the seventh seal.  If the seventh trumpet coincides with the seventh seal then maybe the other trumpets are coincident with the other seals being opened too.

In other words, when an Christ opens a seal, an angel sounds a trumpet.  For those who are watching, it is a warning that Christ’s return is imminent.

The first seal is broken when the Antichrist is revealed.   The first trumpet sounds and then a third of the Earths trees and grass is burnt up.  The second seal is broken, war is unleashed.  The second trumpet sounds and a third of the sea turns to blood and a third of the sea creatures die and a third of the ships are destroyed.  The third seal is opened and a famine is rampant.  The third trumpet sounds and a star falls from the sky turning a third of the fresh waters bitter.  The fourth seal is opened and death abounds.  The fourth trumpet sounds and a third of the sky is darkened blocking the light of the sun and moon.  A fifth seal is opened and the martyrs cry out.  The fifth trumpet sounds and locusts come out of the abyss to torment those with the mark of the beast for 5 months. The sixth seal is opened and signs appear in the sky and earthquakes shake the Earth.  Men try to hide from Gods impending wrath. The sixth trumpet sounds – 200 million mounted troops are released to kill one third of all mankind.  Still man does not repent.

Next, the 144000 Jews are sealed and a great multitude appear in heaven.  Then there is rest in heaven for half an hour as the seventh seal is opened.  The seventh trumpet sounds as the seventh seal is opened and the mystery of God is accomplished.  The little scroll is opened,  the two witnesses finish prophesying for 1260 days and then they are raptured.   Jerusalem has been trampled for 42 months.  The time for judging the dead in Christ has come. The church is raptured and the first resurrection takes place.  God pours out the seven bowls of his wrath as he leads an army of believers to strike down the nations.  The nations are separated into the Sheep and the Goats.

Finally, the Kingdom of this world becomes the Kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah.

If the seventh seal coincides with the seventh trumpet, maybe the the other seals coincide with their respective trumpets

The seven Bowls are part of the Last Trumpet

The first resurrection and the rapture of the Church at the second coming of Christ occur at the Last Trumpet.  A great multitude will appear in heaven when this happens.

The great multitude appear in heaven after the sixth seal, immediately before the seventh seal is mentioned.

The seventh seal is mentioned almost in passing immediately after the great multitude appears in heaven.   When the seventh seal is opened, there is rest in heaven for “half an hour”.   Not much else is said about the seventh seal and then Revelation moves on to describe the angels with the seven trumpets.

It is quite likely that the great multitude appearing in heaven is linked to the seventh seal being opened.

The second coming of Christ, therefore, coincides with the sounding of seventh trumpet, the opening of the seventh seal as well as the rapture of the Church and the first resurrection.

If the seventh trumpet coincides with the opening of the seventh seal, then could the other trumpets  coincide with their respective seals?  ie the first trumpet coincides with the first seal, the second trumpet coincides with the second seal, third trumpet – third seal etc.

This would surely be very neat and glorious and would certainly “preach well“, but is it true?

Are there any Bible verses that would confirm or deny that this is true?

Certainly, the events of the first trumpet (hail fire and blood burning up a third of the Earths trees and grass) are not incompatible with the appearance of the Antichrist in the first seal. The events of the second trumpet (a mountain ablaze killing a third of the sea creatures and ships) could be associated with the second seal being opened – war. The events of the third trumpet (a third of the fresh waters of the Earth turned bitter) could be associated with the third seal – famine. The events of the fourth trumpet (a third of the sky is darkened) could be associated with the fourth seal being opened – death.  The events of the fifth trumpet (those with the mark of the beast are tormented for 5 months) could be associated with the fifth seal being opened – martyrs.  The events of the sixth trumpet (a third of mankind is killed by 200,000 mounted troops) could be associated with the events of the sixth seal being opened – signs in the sky.  And the events of the seventh trumpet (the rapture and the first resurrection) probably are associated with the the seventh seal being opened – the great multitude appearing in heaven.

While there do not appear to be any conflicts or major objections to the seals and trumpets being synchronous, other arrangements of the seals and the trumpets are possible.  (see below)

The seven bowls of God’s wrath are part of the seventh trumpet and would also coincide with the seventh seal.

If the seventh seal is coincident with the seventh trumpet (as both are linked to the second coming of Christ), then it is unlikely that the trumpets simply follow the seals.

If the seventh trumpet is coincident with the seventh seal, it is likely that the other trumpets precede the seventh seal.  The trumpets and the seals could, therefore, be synchronous.  ie when a seal is opened, a trumpet is sounded

When Christ opens the seventh seal, the seventh trumpet sounds, the Children of God are revealed, Christ returns to redeem the Church and resurrect dead Christians. There is rest in heaven for half an hour and then Christ returns with an army of believers to strike down the nations as the seven bowls of Gods wrath are poured out.

Revelation0

  • Whenever a seal is opened, an angel announces it with a trumpet.
  • This should serve as a warning to those who know what to look for.
  • Mankind has a chance to repent even after the sixth trumpet is sounded.
  • Once the seventh trumpet is sounded, it is too late to repent, the church will be raptured and the dead believers resurrected.  God will pour out his wrath on the nations who are left behind
  • God’s wrath and the judgment on the Nations follow the sixth seal.
  • The seventh trumpet brings with it God’s wrath.
  • The seven bowls are God’s wrath and are part of the seventh trumpet.

A more traditional view of the Seals Trumpets and Bowls

  • Here all the trumpets are coincident with the seventh seal and the bowls are coincident with the seventh trumpet.
  • Thus the the seventh seal, the seventh trumpet and the seventh bowl coincide with the end of the age.
sequence_mine

Another view of the seals trumpets and bowls

  • Here the trumpets are spread out but not synchronous with the seals.
  • The seventh trumpet almost coinciding with the seventh seal.
  • The bowls are spread across the last three trumpets.

In non of the above, do the trumpets and bowls follow sequentially after the seventh seal.

The Little Scroll is a part of the Book of Life

If the seventh seal is synchronous with the seventh trumpet, then the Little Scroll could well be the scroll that the Lamb is opening one seal at a time in Revelations 6:1-8:5.

The Great Multitude in white robes in Revelations 7:9-17 would, therefore, be the rapture of the Church at the Last Trumpet.

Could the Little Scroll be the same as the Book of Life?  Once it is opened, those who are saved are resurrected or raptured to be with Christ in the clouds.

The Church is judged separately to the Nations (Pagans/Gentiles).

The Church is called up to be with Christ in the Clouds when the seventh trumpet sounds. They stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and are judged for the things that they have done in the body of Christ. At the same time, false christians in the Church are sent to hell by the angel in charge of the fire (Revelation Ch 14).

The pagans who have died are not judged until the end of the Millennium at the Great White Throne.   Those who are alive when Christ returns will suffer the seven bowls of God’s wrath and will be separated into the Sheep (who were kind to God’s people) and the Goats (who persecuted God’s people).  Some of these ‘Sheep Nations’  will be allowed to continue to live on Earth as the Nations during the Millennium.

Some Pagans (Gentile / Nations) escape the Lake of Fire and are allowed to spend Eternity as the New Nations basking in the Light of the New Jerusalem. They are even given the Leaves of the Tree of Life for healing and they are allowed to enter the New Jerusalem once a year. It therefore follows that these nations must not have accepted the mark of the beast as they were not thrown into the Lake of Fire. It also follows that their Names must be in the Lamb’s Book of Life as they are allowed to enter the New Jerusalem once a year. When they are judged at the Great White Throne at the end of the Millennium, if their names are not in the Book of Life they are thrown into the Lake of Fire.

The Book of Life must, therefore, contain the Names of Pagans who were not thrown into the Lake of Fire.

The Book of Life is opened once at the beginning of the Millennium to judge Christians and it is opened again a the end of the Millennium to judge pagans.

The Born Again Believers’ names are listed on the Little Scroll which is part of the Book of Life.

The Names of Pagans who are spared the Lake of Fire are listed on a separate scroll (let’s say it is called the ‘Big Scroll’) which is also part of the Book of Life.

The Little Scroll therefore contains the names of born again believers in the New and Old Covenant times. When it is opened the Believers get resurrected (if sleeping) or raptured (if alive).

The ‘Big Scroll’ contains the names of all Pagans who are spared the Lake of Fire and are destined to be the Nations in Eternity.

Both the ‘Little Scroll’ and the ‘Big Scroll’ are therefore pages or chapters in the Book of Life. They are a subset of the Book of Life.
